Adams Farm Makes USA Today's Top Ten List for Winter Sleigh Rides Release Date December 21, 2005 WILMINGTON, VT - The Mount Snow Valley's own Adams Farm is listed as one of USA Today's "Ten great places to ride into a Currier & Ives" in last week's Friday edition. For 26 snowy winters, Adams Farm has been bringing the past to the present by offering afternoon and evening traditional Vermont sleigh rides pulled by draft horses. New this year, are Prince and King, a team of black Percheron draft horses, in addition to the steadfast Belgian steeds. The horses pull the sleighs through the farm's maple sugar grove, up along the ridge of their mountain to an old log cabin. Travel through a variety of landscapes, including sugarbush, pine groves, open meadows, and secluded woodland vistas. At the cabin, visitors warm up by the wood stove fires and enjoy a cup of hot chocolate and some songs from an antique player piano. Two draft horses pull each sleigh, and blankets are provided. The entire ride, with the stop at the old log cabin, lasts approximately one and one-half hours. The Vermont Chamber of Commerce and Vermont Magazine have dubbed Adams Farm's sleigh rides the "#1 sleigh ride in Vermont." Adams Farm also has a vintage sleigh used for private romantic rides for two. Pulled by a single draft horse for a 45-minute journey and completed with German sleigh bells and a bearskin lap robe. Over 100 successful unions have resulted from the elegant proposals that have occurred on our private sleigh. On Wednesday evenings, Adams Farm adds to the sleigh ride experience with Fudge Fondue Nights. Guests take a sleigh ride to the log cabin in the woods, where they enjoy a cup of mulled cider while dipping an assortment of fresh fruits and baked goods into a fondue pot filled with melted homemade fudge. From mid-December to mid-March, Adams Farm offers day and evening sleigh rides Tuesdays through Sundays, as well as special sleigh rides for Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve, full moon nights, and Valentines Day. Adams Farm is a working sixth-generation farm in southern Vermont, offering the public seasonal activities and agricultural interactive experiences for the whole family, as well as a complete Farm Store and Quilt & Fiber Arts Loft.
